National Fishing Heritage Centre

Year 4 had an extremely enjoyable trip to the National Fishing Heritage Centre in Grimsby. They had been learning all about the Cod Wars as part of their 'Viewpoints' topic. They had also been learning about life as a trawlerman and about the fishing communities. It was a fantastic day where we learnt a lot about fishing. The children's behaviour was excellent and they were a real credit to the school and their parents.

What a fantastic day we had. The weather was excellent and I was really proud of your behaviour and the sensible questions and answers you gave. Well done!

I think it was a wonderful day out. My favourite part was when we went on the rocking boat that was good. Neo looked funny when we dressed him up.

I think it was a great day I would definitely go again.I thought my favorite part of the trip was the sos message and you had to press this lever and once you had sent the message somthing would come back to you.

I thoght that the trip was good. The bridge was my favourite because it had the wheel and it was fun.I really enjoyed the bridge because lots of people liked stearing the wheel.I enjoyed the trip because it was all about the cod and the haddock and fish.I liked the bit when I got to dress up in the fishing clothes even though I had one big woolly sock on. The clothes were really big so they didn't fit me.I liked the bit where there was a person getting changed.I learnt that the Skipper was rather mean but could be generous as well because he could be generous at giving some more money to them if they caught a lot of fish but sometimes the Skipper just could be mean and not give them any money at all. I also liked the bit when the table was filled with mucky plates so I did a photo of when I was pretending to eat or drink something.I liked the museam so I think I will go there again.I would not like to be a fishermen because I don't like going on boats they scare me because they can easily sink so I would not like to go on a boat. They are not very nice they are really scary to me. If I was a fishermen I would want to be the Skipper because you would get lots of money.I thought the trip was very good so I think I will bring all my family and my grandad because he likes fishing. One day I thenk I would go with my dad fishing because i think it will be very fun and really really good. The radio bit was really good because Jess asked what s.o.s stands for and I answered the right question. So that's why I think I would go again.

It was a really good experiense.I will be going again with my mum because it was briliant. The best part was the ross-tiger because it was so old that it only cost £1.00The ross-tiger was biger than i fort.I was so botherd when Mr J told us all that we could not go on the ross-tiger.But over all i had a good time with all my friends! The worst part was the ice room because it was so cold.

what a day! I was so tired when I got home. I loved it there it was my best school trip ever I so enjoyed it there. I would definitely go there again. My favourite room was the ice room.(but the bad thing about the ice room was it was really cold. The good thing about the ice was you get to be with your friends and thats why it is my favourite room. But in the boiler room it is different it is only you on your own. It is sooooo hot in there I was almost sweating it was good though. The net was really heavy. It was so heavy my whole body nearly snapped.Once we went round the museum bit we spoke to John who rode on the ROSS TIGER. John knows alot about the Ross Tiger. We also dressed up it was sooo fun. Josh(in year 4)dressed up in our group.

I thought Grimsby was very exiting because we got to look at old stuff from trawlers and got to see howtrawlers lived. My fravorite bits where when I got to where the trawler mens clothes they were very big and they were very smelly.I lernt that if you work on a trawler it will be very dificult and it is very daugerous.

My favourite room was the ice room it is not to warm .Our cold and my faveourit activaty was dreesingup.

I learnt that trawler mens bed was in same room as were they ate there foodand. There was cupboard doors to get to their bed.

On the trip to Grimsby I found it very interesting to find out about the 1950s when the fishing in Grimsby's was the biggest industry in the world their was 12 different ships named after cats family.I only know 4 of them one was the Ross Tiger, the Ross puma, the Ross Cheater and the Ross leaperd. It was disserpointing that we didn't go on the ross tiger.
