Visit by Peter Hayden

We were recently fortunate enough to be visited by the author Peter Hayden.

He talked to the whole school and read some of his stories before doing a workshop for year 5. The children had an excellent day and enjoyed producing some quality writing.

Here are some of their comments:

Year three only heard the stories that Peter Hayden told to the whole school. I know the children enjoyed these very funny stories as they talked about them all day. It was also nice to have a 'real' author in school. I think some of the children, particularly in Year 5, were very inspired. A thoroughly worthwhile experience.

I am so unfortunate that I had to miss Peter Hayden! I was so looking forward to it. I bet he was ace! I've always wanted to see a real author! But now I've missed it! I hope everyone had a great time!

Hi folks - Peter Hayden here, thanks for your nice comments. It was a fun day at Preston Primary. Yesterday I was at a very small school near Northampton called Pitsford Primary which only had 55 children in the whole school, but that's nowhere near the smallest I've been in - that was one called Craigston Primary which only had TEN children in the whole school. It is in the Outer Hebrides in Scotland.

I have just read Ewan, Jess, Beth and George's writing - very good and confident writing. Beth's was nice, I like how she doesn't get her own back, just gets zapped again like the previous year; Ewan's was fun, a bit weird and dream-like... Jess - nice horsey girley writing, my daughter was mad about horses, then boys, now music; George - funny, the strangest diving lesson I've ever heard of.

Have a good Red Nose Day. See ya! From Peter H.
